A Billionaire, A Matchmaker, and a Whole Lot of Drama!

Call me weak, but how could I resist this one? Kirby, Mark P., and Jeff in the same series? These apps know exactly what they’re doing, and of course, we fall for it—no regrets at all!

A Fresh Take on the Billionaire Trope

The premise sounded intriguing. Yes, we have a billionaire, but for once, he’s not hiding his identity. Everyone knows exactly who he is. No drug-induced one-night stand, no impulsive marriage to a stranger. Instead, we get a billionaire actively looking for a wife. Ethan, babe, you should have called!

Of course, he can’t just hop on Tinder—though, now that I think about it, I Matched with My Billionaire Husband on Tinder could be a hit! Instead, Ethan takes the high-society route: hiring a matchmaker. Because when you’re a billionaire, you don’t find love—you pay someone to find it for you.

Meet the Key Players

  • Ethan – Our billionaire lead, and he’s not here to waste time. He wants love, and he wants it yesterday! He’s feeling the pressure from his father, but that doesn’t mean he’ll settle for just anyone. His ideal woman must check every impossible box.
  • Emily – The ultimate matchmaker. Cute, funny —but she’s hiding a dark secret.
  • Mark – A complete lunatic, psycho, and dangerous manipulator. And that’s putting it nicely.
  • Rachel – Mark’s perfect match. Since we’re talking matchmaking, these two truly deserve each other.

A Slow but Powerful Transformation

One of the highlights of this series was Emily’s character development. She started the story completely under Mark’s control. Thanks to Ethan, she slowly found the strength to break free.

What I appreciated was how realistic her struggle felt. She didn’t leave Mark right away—she made excuses for him, forgave him, and kept pretending everything was fine. Her ability to laugh and joke around others while hiding the horrors of her home life? Sadly, very realistic.

The moment she finally remembered Ethan’s words and started to fight back? YOU GO, GIRL! But of course, breaking free wasn’t that easy. Mark’s psychological grip on her was deep. And when he teamed up with Rachel to drown Emily in unpaid rent debts and guilt? A twisted but effective plan.

Who’s Ready for Jail Time?

I loved how Emily’s transformation unfolded. She went from being trapped in a toxic relationship to becoming a strong, independent woman. And when she finally kicked Mark’s ass? I was so proud of her! Justice was served, and Mark ended up exactly where he belonged—locked up and hopefully for a very long time.

But taking down one villain wasn’t enough—there was still Rachel. Unlike Mark, who was driven by rage and obsession, Rachel was calculated. She fooled almost everyone… except Ethan. He always sensed something was off. The only reason he agreed to marry her was to appease his dying father.

In the end, though, karma caught up with her too. And to that, I say: Bye-bye, bitch! 🚔 Go to jail, go directly to jail, do not pass Go, do not collect $200!

A Baby? Again?!

Of course, Ethan and Emily ended up together, which I loved. But another pregnancy? Why does every story have to end with one? Unless the baby is central to the plot, it adds nothing. We’re not going to see them as parents anyway! This felt unnecessary—whether it happened or not wouldn’t have changed much.

A Round of Applause for the Cast

  • Jeff – His facial expressions have improved so much! His reaction during his first date with the old lady? Hilarious. And when Emily kicked Mark with the bar? Priceless. Also, good job—no kidnapping in this one!
  • Kirby – Absolutely nailed her role. She seamlessly switched between a bright, cheerful facade and moments of sheer terror. A tough role to pull off, but she delivered!
  • Paulina – OMG. I hated her character, which means she did an amazing job. First series I’ve seen her in, but she left a serious impression!
  • Mark – Man, I love Mark, but I hated him here. His character reminded me of Jamie (played by Eric Ruof) in I Adopted My Stolen Baby—dangerous, manipulative, and genuinely terrifying. A difficult role, but he nailed it.
  • Adam – I prefer you as the supportive best friend (like Kevin in The King’s Guard and the Influencer). I don’t like hating your characters, and this is the second time! (I haven’t forgotten the perv in Falling for a Superstar either!)

Final Thoughts

No surprise—I loved this one! It had everything I want in a vertical drama: an original plot, a fantastic cast, and a sweet romance.

And a special shoutout to Shorts for including end credits! This needs to become standard across all platforms.
