Ben and Maddie grew up together, as Maddie’s mother has worked for the Carters for years. But from the start, Ben is completely open about his feelings, confessing he’s been in love with Maddie for years. It’s rare to see a lead this direct about his emotions, and I loved it! But their love story isn’t the real drama here—it’s the family secrets that turn their world upside down.

The Truth Unfolds:

Maddie has always wanted to know more about her father—he died when she was just a baby, and her mom never talks about him. But as the story unfolds, she discovers a shocking truth: the woman who raised her is not her biological mother.

Her real parents were both murdered by Ben’s father, Richard. That means she isn’t just some maid—she’s the daughter of a powerful Mafia Boss who was eliminated by the Carter family.

From that moment on, Maddie has only one goal: make Richard pay for his crimes. She wants to see him behind bars, but as you can imagine, a Mafia Boss won’t go down that easily. With connections, power, and a ruthless right-hand woman at his side, Richard is not an easy man to take down.

Meet the Villains:

Richard Carter – The Mafia boss. Cruel, ruthless, and sees Maddie as nothing more than a maid—someone beneath him. He doesn’t tolerate anyone meddling in his business. Yet, oddly enough, he keeps Ben out of the Mafia world, refusing to involve his son in his crimes.

Mia – Richard’s right-hand woman and Ben’s arranged fiancée. She’s cold, calculating, and loves making Maddie’s life miserable. The second she realizes Ben has feelings for Maddie, she makes it her mission to destroy her.

Maddie may have Ben by her side, but her pursuit of the truth nearly costs her everything.

Final Thoughts:

I loved that the romance wasn’t the main focus—the family secrets stole the show. The love story was just a bonus, but the real thrill was watching Maddie uncover the truth and fight for justice.

Also, can we talk about Abigail’s performance as Mia? She was pure evil, and she nailed the role!

And most importantly… I wanted to see Mariah in a Mafia storyline, and now I finally got it! That’s a first check on my Myra Bingo!

This is only the second 5-star review on my blog! The quality of Verticals has improved so much lately, and I’m loving it! If they keep delivering stories like this, I’ll need a whole new rating system!
