Reveal the reviewAnd another Matt Macedo Vertical dropped in less than a week—how are we supposed to keep up with this pace?! My watchlist is already overflowing! Honestly, I need more hours in the day.
This one is exactly what you need after a rough day at work. Between laugh-out-loud moments, iconic one-liners, and a fun, over-the-top storyline, this feel-good rom-com will definitely lift your spirits. Sure, you’ve probably seen a similar plot somewhere else, but trust me—the humor in this one makes it absolutely worth watching.
Let’s Talk About the Leads:
Eliza – A strong, hardworking woman determined to inherit her mother’s company. The catch? She has to have a child. That plan hits a snag when she catches her boyfriend cheating with her sister (yikes!). So, she turns to IVF to start a family on her own.
Ethan – The charming, secretly wealthy heir pressured by his family to settle down. He’s so over it, he even froze his sperm. Because, you know—Vertical logic.
By fate (and a very questionable clinic mix-up), Eliza is accidentally inseminated with Ethan’s donation. Yep, that’s the plot twist! But things get even wilder: Ethan hides his identity, Eliza’s messy ex and her villainous sister get involved, and Ethan’s own brother creates even more drama. Oh, and did I mention Eliza once saved Ethan’s life years ago… and he later saved hers? Destiny much?
The Drama Club:
Lisette – Eliza’s sister, aka the queen of sabotage. Her life mission? Ruin Eliza’s happiness. She even tries to steal Ethan (understandable) and Max (why though?!).
Max – The audacity of this guy! Cheats on Eliza, calls her ugly, then crawls back when he needs money. Sir, please book an eye exam and a reality check.
Ryan – Ethan’s brother and a bit of a wildcard. Sometimes sweet, sometimes shady—mostly just jealous. But to his credit, he eventually redeems himself and even helps save Ethan’s life.
Top Comedy Moments:
-
“Push. My. Button.” – Trust me, you need to see this scene to fully appreciate its hilarity.
-
“No offense at all, but being with you is my idea of birth control.” – Ethan really snapped with this iconic line!
-
The Watermelon Crisis – A hormonal pregnancy meltdown that leads to a helicopter flight through a snowstorm just to get a watermelon. Legendary.
Trust me, there are way more than this, but I let you find out by yourself!
Final Thoughts:
This rom-com was a delight! Full of laughs, silly plot twists, and heartwarming moments. Kirby was hilarious and lovable as Eliza, and Robyn nailed the mean girl role once again. The entire cast brought charm and energy to the screen. If you’re feeling down or just want a good laugh, this is the Vertical to watch.
