Reveal the review

Another review today—this time, in a completely different genre!
This story follows a classic but well-loved plot: two people marry without truly knowing each other. After the wedding, one of them moves abroad. When they return, the woman ends up unknowingly working for her own husband. Yes, it’s been done before, but it’s always fun—and this version adds a refreshing twist with a matchmaking sister that completely steals the show!

Let’s Meet Our Leads

Jack – A successful CEO in fashion and jewelry, who agrees to a secret arranged marriage purely to please his grandmother. He sees it as a business deal, not a love story—and doesn’t even tell his sister Janie about his wife.

Kate – A talented jewelry designer, top of her class, and Janie’s close friend. She agrees to the marriage for financial reasons, hoping to save her late mother’s company. After the wedding, she leaves the country, only to return two years later—just as the marriage contract is about to expire.

Of course, neither Jack nor Kate realizes they’re working side by side—nor that they’ve been married this whole time. The irony is delicious, especially when both are pretending to be happily married, while unknowingly falling for their own spouse!

The Matchmaking Sister We Love

Enter Janie, Jack’s bubbly sister and Kate’s well-meaning friend. She knows Kate had an arranged marriage but assumes it wasn’t real—so she’s determined to set her up with her brother.
Jack, of course, never told Janie about his secret wife. But that doesn’t stop her. She’s the ultimate wingwoman, constantly nudging them closer together without even realizing she’s playing Cupid for an already married couple.

Also—Jack and Janie’s sibling bond is absolutely adorable. Their scenes together are full of warmth and laughter.

A Light Drama With a Twist

What makes this story extra fun is that there’s no typical “Drama Queen.” Sure, Annabelle could’ve been one, and Chad and his mother bring some tension—but not in the usual “toxic ex” way. It’s a breath of fresh air to have a story that doesn’t rely on a delusional love rival for drama.

In fact, Jack and Kate manage to create enough chaos on their own. Miscommunication, missed opportunities, and unspoken truths nearly ruin their love story. Sometimes, the biggest obstacles are the characters themselves—not the people around them.

That’s why Janie stands out—she’s the one who keeps the story from going off the rails. We love a sister who saves the romance!

When Truth Finally Comes Out…

The big reveal moment—when Jack finally realizes Kate is actually his wife—is such a satisfying payoff. But poor nurse is probably still waiting for Kate’s full name and insurance card!

Jack’s final move was bold—he proposed again, risking rejection. (Imagine if Kate had said no! Even if just for a joke—wouldn’t that be a twist in the Vertical Universe?)

And of course, Janie was right all along: they were perfect for each other.

Final Thoughts

This is such a cute and light-hearted love story. If you’re looking for a romantic drama without heavy tension, this one is perfect.
I loved seeing Kirby in her matchmaking element—clearly, she had good practice before making it her full-time gig in another universe!
