Reveal the reviewAn Intriguing Story with Strong Emotional Depth
This one was quite interesting! I really enjoyed the storyline—having actors playing actors is always fun.
Complex and Engaging Characters
The characters were well-developed, though I had mixed feelings about Grace (Kiley Pearson). Part of me really sympathized with her—she was mistreated for years despite working tirelessly for Andrew. She was incredibly dedicated! But at the same time, she never spoke up about how she felt. Girl, you should have voiced your feelings years ago! Why wait so long? It makes her seem like she has very low self-esteem and just endures everything in silence.
As for Andrew (Gabe Armentano)—he’s frustrating! I don’t understand why he pretends not to care at first. Don’t be surprised that Grace ends things with you when you never show her any affection. Professionally, he succeeded—landing his first lead role should have made him happy, but he seemed conflicted. I suppose his personal life being a mess prevented him from truly enjoying his success. But honestly, I can’t feel too bad for him since he’s the one responsible for his own chaos. The biggest question is—why did he never truly confess to Grace? Did he not realize he had feelings for her, or was he just too proud to admit it?
A Strong History Between Characters
One aspect I really liked was how all the characters had known each other for years. This made the development feel more authentic—the grudges were deep-rooted. Since Serena had belittled Grace for years, it’s no surprise she made her life a living hell. Usually, the Drama Queen trope involves a mean girl targeting the lead for no reason, but here, the hatred had history, making it more believable.
However, one confusing element was Lindsay’s connection to Grace. Sometimes it felt like she knew everything, and other times, not at all. She wasn’t aware of Grace and Andrew’s secret relationship, yet she seemed familiar with Andrew in some way. That part left me a little puzzled.
The Drama Moments Were Well-Paced
Several dramatic events stood out in this series.
The Pregnancy Reveal
Of course, Grace found out she was pregnant after the breakup. The way she told Andrew wasn’t ideal, but considering they were no longer “casual,” was there really a good way to tell him? Also, her attempt to find a husband to take care of her and the baby—come on! She is more than capable of raising a child on her own. Again, her lack of confidence was frustrating. I wish she had been more self-assured!
On Andrew’s side, he completely messed up. Obviously, he wasn’t ready for a baby, especially with his career taking off, but I really didn’t understand the secret marriage decision.
Why? Did he do it just to appear responsible, or was it a way to win Grace back? Either way, both options were terrible. And the constant mention of Serena made everything worse. This marriage was a mistake, and I wish Grace had said no. I understand she loves Andrew, but what did she expect? That marriage would suddenly turn him into the perfect husband? She knew him well enough to realize that wouldn’t happen. Maybe if she had spoken up more, things could have been different—but she never truly did.
The Assistant Position—Why?
Why did Grace accept this job? From what I gathered, she had been Andrew’s agent for years and was responsible for his success. Just because she stopped managing him doesn’t mean she couldn’t find another client. With her experience, she could have pursued a much better job instead of becoming Serena’s assistant.
Of course, Serena bullied her again. And with her pregnancy, it was bound to end badly. Grace had an opportunity to escape when she was fired—then re-hired. When she almost lost the baby due to a rehearsal, she finally asked for a divorce—about time!
The Book Subplot Felt Rushed
The whole book storyline felt a little strange. The timeline wasn’t very clear. Lindsay suggested the idea, Grace kind of agreed, but before she even started writing, rumors about her book were already circulating?
It seemed like weeks passed within a few episodes, yet her pregnancy didn’t visibly progress. Who writes a book in under a month and already starts searching for a publisher that fast? Maybe I missed something, or maybe she’s a super-fast writer. The conversation between Grace and Andrew was a step in the right direction, but both of them still avoided discussing their true emotions—frustrating!
At least after that, she was finally about to quit her assistant job. I had hope things would improve—until she lost the baby. That’s when Andrew finally had his realization. Too little, too late, of course.
One Last Plot Twist—Andrew’s Mother
Just when I thought things were wrapping up, we met Andrew’s mother—the root cause of their first breakup. It reinforced how much Grace had always sacrificed for Andrew.
Finally, seeing Andrew open his eyes, admit his feelings, and put Grace first was a huge relief. I expected a happy ending, but I didn’t expect the message at the end teasing a sequel. I love the idea—I just hope it actually happens. Otherwise, I’ll be really mad at the production!
Final Thoughts
Thank you, Gabe, for recommending this one! I really enjoyed it and will probably rewatch it to see if I catch more details that clarify my lingering questions.
