AI Vertical Dramas vs. Real Verticals: Why Fans Still Choose Human Stories
posted on
Have you ever opened one of your go-to apps, spotted a shiny new release, and clicked out of curiosity — only to realize within seconds that it’s an AI Vertical?
And we’re not just talking about obscure apps. Major players like FlareFlow, PocketFM, and Dramabox have started pushing AI-generated vertical dramas onto our feeds. But here’s the big question: what’s wrong with AI Verticals?
Why AI Verticals Fall Flat
The problem isn’t just taste — it’s quality. I tried watching one just so I could write this article, and I couldn’t even finish Episode 1.
The images were uncanny, reminding me of those awkward pictures that went viral online a few years ago — the kind that make you cringe without knowing why.
The lip-sync was nonexistent.
The transitions were nonsense.
The voices were robotic and emotionless.
And while I can’t fully judge the storyline since I couldn’t get past the first episode, it already looked messy and hollow. Honestly, it gave me the same energy as those strange AI cat reels that invaded the internet not too long ago.
Why We Love Real Verticals
The truth is, our love for Verticals isn’t just about the crazy storylines (though we adore those!). It’s about the actors and actresses who bring them to life.
They’re the ones who:
Deliver unforgettable expressions.
Use their voices to convey tone, sarcasm, pain, and joy.
Pour emotion into every scene so we can feel it too.
Even if AI could mimic a smirk or intonation, it will never match the real thing. Because to make viewers cry, laugh, or scream at the screen, you need to feel it yourself — and no robot can do that.
I want to keep seeing my faves on screen. I want to yell at perfectly despicable Drama Queens, swoon over couples with insane chemistry, and root for villains who are so good I truly hate them for 15 minutes straight. That’s what makes Verticals addictive.
Should AI Verticals Exist at All?
Some people say they should disappear completely — and honestly, I get that. I lean that way myself. But maybe there’s a small audience for them.
Still, here’s my issue: they shouldn’t be mixed with real Verticals.
Subscribers shouldn’t be tricked into watching them.
Apps shouldn’t count accidental clicks as “interest.”
And we definitely shouldn’t be paying for them with our subs.
If apps want to experiment, fine — but give AI Verticals their own separate platforms.
The Difference Between AI Verticals and My AI Content
Now, I can already hear some people saying: “But wait — you use AI for your content too!” And you’re right. But here’s the difference.
My fanpage is a hobby, not a business.
I make $0 from it — everything is free.
I’m not taking jobs from actors or artists.
My AI projects are created as fan love, not commercial products.
For me, AI is a tool. Like when I write lyrics about my personal life — AI helps me turn those words into songs I can actually listen to. Does that take away from professional singers? No. Does it make me smile and feel better on hard days? Yes.
I’ve used AI to:
Turn my ideas into fun chibis that make people smile.
Write songs that fans tell me helped them feel understood.
Build Vertalis, a virtual world inspired by Verticals.
Even create a virtual boyband — not to replace real ones, but just to entertain fans with absurd, vertical-inspired lyrics.
All of this is harmless fun. None of it takes away from the billions in revenue apps earn from real actors, real crews, and real Vertical productions.
Where the Money Matters
Let’s not forget: apps like FlareFlow are growing at lightning speed (and they brag a lot about it). Their money comes from us, the subscribers who pay to see our favorite actors in action. That’s why it’s frustrating to see that money funneled into cheap AI Verticals instead of supporting the talent that built the industry.
I don’t have billions to invest. If I ever asked people to pay for my content, I’d understand the expectation of hiring real artists. Until then, I’ll keep using AI to create free fan content that entertains my community — without taking away opportunities from anyone.
Because fanpages matter. Sharing love for the actors and the shows we’re obsessed with helps the space, even when AI tools are part of the process.
Agree? Disagree? That’s fine too. You’re always free to follow other fanpages. But for me — I’ll keep fighting for real Vertical dramas with real actors, while also using AI in ways that bring joy without harm.
