Another werewolf series with Cayman? Say no more! And this time, he’s officially the Alpha King—a title Cayman absolutely deserves.

King Cassian is an interesting mix of terrifying and adorable, especially when it comes to Athena. But, and it’s a big but, I was furious when he drugged her. “To protect her,” he said—sorry, not buying it, Cassian! This moment nearly lost him the “no red flag lead male” on the VertiBingo, and honestly, he’s on probation. You may be the Alpha King, but respect for consent is non-negotiable, buddy!

Athena, however, is the real Queen here—even without the title. She held her ground despite being bullied by Selene, kept her calm, and stole every scene she was in. She’s now one of my favorite werewolf leads in VertiLand.

Victor and Selene? Easily the dumbest duo I’ve seen. Victor keeps making terrible decisions and deludes himself into thinking he’s right. Selene is a fraud—supposedly the first female General and a great warrior, but she has zero leadership aura, and it seems everyone in the pack hates her.

A few plot points left me scratching my head. Athena’s wolf disappeared when her parents died, but we never really learn why. It’s implied she was too powerful, but there was no injury or clear reason—did her wolf just decide to ghost her for years? Also, how did pack members in the battlefield not know what was happening in their own pack? War or not, that felt inconsistent.

Another note: the romance was underdeveloped. They knew they were mates, but with so much chaos happening, the romance faded into the background. I wish we had a Part 2 focused on their relationship after peace returns, letting us see Cassian and Athena’s romance bloom fully.

Final Thoughts

Candace was phenomenal and deserves more badass roles! The cast delivered, Tate nailed the lovable dummy villain role, and yes, I wish we had more of Cayman’s growl. A fun, intense watch with powerful leads, even if the romance needed more screen time.
