As we step into Pride Month, it’s the perfect time to open up a conversation about LGBTQ+ representation in vertical dramas. Today’s FanTalk is a heartfelt thank you and a call to action—for more diversity, more love stories, and more voices in the vertical space.

A Big Thank You to the Creatives 🌈

Let’s start by recognizing the amazing creatives—writers, directors, actors—who have been pushing for more inclusive storytelling behind the scenes. While platforms may still be cautious about centering queer narratives, the tide is starting to turn, and that’s worth celebrating.

We’ve Seen It Work 🧡

Massive successes like My Secret Agent Husband (55M views) and The Mafia’s Obsession (45M views), both on DramaBox, are proof that viewers are ready for LGBTQ+ stories. These aren’t niche titles anymore—they’re hits. We’re also seeing an increase in supporting queer characters—assistants, siblings, best friends—which is a great step forward. But it’s time for the next step: full queer leads in every genre.

More Than Just BL 💬

Right now, most of the queer representation I’ve seen focuses on male characters, especially in Boy Love (BL) series. But where are the Girl Love (GL) stories? The lesbian leads? The non-binary representation? If they exist, I haven’t found them—please tell me where to look!

As an ace (asexual) viewer myself, I would love to one day see an asexual character in VertiLand. It’s not about forcing diversity—it’s about reflecting the real world and giving everyone a chance to feel seen.
