Reveal the reviewA second chance with a side of revenge — and one of the most frustrating villains ever.
I love a good revenge story, and this one? Let’s just say Ethan takes the crown for most annoying character I’ve seen in a while.
Let’s meet our main trio:
Serena – The heiress of a powerful family business, Serena has been hopelessly in love with the wrong man for years. Love really was blind. She never said no to him, never questioned his actions, and sadly, never realized he was using her all along.
William – The classic good guy. Despite being rejected over and over again (and not always nicely), William never stopped loving Serena. He was there when she died, and he’d do absolutely anything for her. At times, it feels borderline obsessive — romantic or creepy? You decide.
Ethan – Oh boy. The walking red flag. Not only is he faking being rich, he treats Serena like trash. He bullied her, cheated on her openly, and made everyone believe she was the housekeeper’s daughter and he was the heir. And through it all, she said nothing. Ethan’s arrogance is unmatched — he somehow manages to blame Serena for everything he did.
It’s tragic that Serena only opens her eyes after death, but at least she gets a second chance. Still, her sudden switch from rejecting William to proposing to him felt rushed. Is she truly in love or just using him as part of her revenge? I really wish we had seen her fall for William slowly — he deserves more than being her Plan B. That said, her proposing was a cool twist, and I loved that power move!
Let’s talk about the backup villains.
Apparently, Ethan isn’t enough drama on his own. First, there’s Carole, his girlfriend and obvious gold digger. She openly flaunts the affair, but karma’s a queen — she fell for a liar. Hope that yacht party was worth it, girl.
Then comes Diana, who’s out to steal William for herself. She’s been jealous of Serena for years and is all too happy to team up with Ethan and Jimmy — William’s brother and yet another spoiled brat who can’t handle being passed over for heir. As usual in Verticals, you can’t even trust your own family.
Final Thoughts
I’m always here for revenge plots, and this one delivered. Evil Dan absolutely nailed the villain role. And if you haven’t yet, check out Dan’s Instagram @danjongma for Ethan’s hilarious POV — it won’t make you like Ethan, but it will make you laugh. Still… #TeamSerena forever.
