This is a forbidden love story with undeniable attraction and a lead couple that knows how to play with fire without burning the audience out. What else can you ask for?
I absolutely loved the dynamic between Whitley and Gabriel. Despite repeatedly telling themselves they couldn’t be together, their flirtation was relentless—and addictive. Especially Gabriel, who has zero chill when it comes to what he wants, but always respects Whitley’s boundaries, making sure she wouldn’t regret any step forward. That’s how you write a green-flag male lead!
When Whitley proposed a friends-with-benefits arrangement, Gabriel’s disappointed face was priceless—he wanted more, and it showed. But I couldn’t blame Whitley for her caution. She’s been hurt before and wasn’t ready to take another risk, no matter how strong the pull between them.
Kendrick, Whitley’s brother, was a bit annoying at first. I get that he wants to protect his sister, but come on, bro—she’s not a child anymore! I also didn’t understand why he didn’t want Gabriel for her. If Gabriel is your best friend, that should mean you like and trust him, so why wouldn’t you want your sister to be with someone you already know is a good guy? Thankfully, Kendrick comes around, and I can forgive him (mostly).
