My Review
this review might contain spoilers, are you sure you want to read it?
Reveal the reviewIf I tell you that I put aside all the other verticals on my watchlist to watch this one first, you better believe it was worth it! And I have no regrets. The moment I saw Ashley in the lead role, I knew I had to watch it. Finally, a leading role for this queen, and what a role it was!
A Forbidden Couple
The title already hints at the “forbidden love story”—and who doesn’t love an impossible romance? Sophie is a stunning, successful CEO of her own fashion empire. She is independent, confident, and absolutely doesn’t need a man—especially not someone like Michael, a complete parasite! Her only flaw? She avoids hurting people, which in this case, works against her. She prioritizes loyalty to the wrong people, sacrificing her own happiness rather than betraying her so-called best friend, Selena. While I admire her principles, I wish she had opened her eyes sooner.
Karl: The Ultimate Green Flag
Have you ever seen a green flag as perfect as Karl? That man had me swooning too! Yes, he’s young—but he’s not a child. He knows exactly what he wants and isn’t afraid to go all in. He’s confident but not forceful, pushing Sophie just enough while respecting her boundaries. Loyal, supportive, and caring, he never once played games or tried to make her jealous. From the start, he was clear: Sophie was the only one he wanted. Honestly, is there a Karl in real life? Because he seems too good to be true!
Keeping Friends Close—And Enemies Closer
It’s funny how easily society calls women “gold diggers” but rarely uses that term for men. Well, let’s start: Michael is a gold digger! A coward, a psycho, and completely spineless. And let’s not forget—attempted murder is still a crime, even if you fail! Full Dummy Bingo complete!
And then there’s Selena—I just checked the dictionary, her name was the definition of “audacity”! Betraying your best friend by sleeping with her fiancé, badmouthing her behind her back, and then playing the victim because she fell in love with your son? Seriously? Instead of being happy that Karl found a woman who truly cares for him, she tried to drug him into a relationship with someone he never wanted. And she calls herself a mother? No, thank you! It’s honestly impressive that Karl turned out to be such a great guy despite being raised by someone like her.
The Slow Burn That Made Sense
From the beginning, the chemistry between Karl and Sophie was undeniable. The electricity, the tension—it was all there. But Sophie took her time accepting it, and I appreciated that. It made the story feel real. Falling for a younger man—her best friend’s son, no less—was never in her plans, so of course, she fought it. But Karl didn’t give up. And while others obsessed over their age gap, it barely even registered for me. Karl is 21 but carries himself with maturity, while Sophie—whose exact age is unclear but likely in her late 30s—is vibrant and youthful. They look incredible together! And no, I’m not just saying that to feel better about my almost-35 self!
If Karl had been 15, of course, I’d have questioned Sophie’s intentions. But he’s an adult, they both have feelings for each other, and she didn’t groom him—so please, let them live their love story in peace!
That Perfect Scene
One of my favorite moments? When Sophie finally stood up for her love, refusing to let Penny ruin her day. Hearing her boldly declare her feelings, saying she no longer cared about others’ opinions—so satisfying! Tell them, girl!
Do We Even Need to Talk About Penny?
Honestly, is Penny even worth mentioning? She was never a real threat. Karl never looked at her, never cared about her, and never had feelings for her. She’s just another “pick-me” girl so wrapped up in her own delusions that she assumed Karl had to love her. Reality check: He didn’t. He never even considered her an option!
Was the Baby Necessary?
If I had only one little critique, it would be the baby subplot. The story was already rich with drama, romance, and tension—adding a baby felt like an unnecessary twist. I would have preferred saving that element for a potential sequel, which I would have absolutely loved!
Final Thoughts
I think it’s pretty obvious—I absolutely loved this vertical! No regrets ditching my entire watchlist for it. I’m beyond thrilled that Ashley got this lead role because she absolutely nailed it. Luca was incredible as Karl. And the entire cast delivered a fantastic performance!
If you haven’t watched it yet, what are you waiting for? It’s a must-watch!
