My Review
this review might contain spoilers, are you sure you want to read it?
Reveal the reviewI’ve been meaning to watch a vertical starring Cayman for a while now! I kept hearing great things about his acting, and I finally got to watch one (actually two—stay tuned for the next review!).
I love BL series—I used to watch a lot of Thai BL dramas, and I’m thrilled to see more LGBTQ+ representation in Verticals! We need more of these stories, and I know fans and actors alike want them. So, to all streaming platforms—listen to us! Now, let’s dive into this one.
Our Lead Couple
Tony – A flight attendant determined to uncover the truth about his father’s death. His sister, a DEA agent, suspects the airline he works for might be involved in a drug trafficking operation. Though not trained for investigation, Tony refuses to back down and starts digging.
Ryan – A Mafia boss disguised as a pilot to run his drug empire. Charismatic, handsome, and completely dangerous, he hides both his sexuality and his true identity.
While working for the same airline, Tony and Ryan unknowingly connect through Grindr, leading to what starts as a casual fling but quickly develops into something deeper. However, when Tony discovers Ryan’s true identity—and his connection to his father’s murder—things take a dark turn.
Toxic Love & Red Flags 🚩
This is where Ryan lost me. After Tony tried to break things off, Ryan held him captive to prevent him from exposing the truth, justifying it as love. But love isn’t possession, and keeping someone against their will is not romantic—it’s terrifying. He later lets Tony go and tries to redeem himself, but honestly? It was too late for me.
Shockingly, Tony does go back to him, which I wasn’t thrilled about. Did everyone forget Ryan literally CHAINED him up?!
Supporting Characters Worth Mentioning
John – The arrogant son of the airline boss, a spoiled brat who tries to sabotage Tony. Typical rich kid entitlement.
Sarah – Tony’s smart and caring sister, a DEA agent who suspected Ryan early on. She knew something was off!
Elena – An air hostess secretly working for Ryan. I wasn’t sure how I felt about her—until she betrayed Ryan and switched to his rival’s side. Not cool.
Mr. Sanchez – A shady and creepy guy involved in drugs and who knows what else. Every scene with him felt so unsettling!
The Ending: What Just Happened?!
I need to talk about that frustrating cliffhanger! I can’t believe they ended it like that. Out of all the suspenseful endings I’ve seen, this one triggered me the most! DramaWave, we need Part 2 ASAP!
Final Thoughts
Despite my issues with the love story, this was a solid drama. And Cayman’s acting? Absolutely phenomenal. His ability to switch from a terrifying psycho to a broken man in love was flawless. Now I get why everyone raves about him—he’s truly a star. But seriously, we need a second season. I’ll be waiting!
