Reveal the reviewAnother werewolf story! I go through phases where I watch none at all, and then suddenly, I binge a whole bunch. This is my fourth one this week, so I guess I’m in my werewolf era right now!
This one stood out thanks to its unique curse on the Alpha, adding a fresh twist to the usual werewolf romance.
Meet Our Leads:
Haley – A human with no interest in werewolves, but when the Noble family offers a generous paycheck, she takes the job—despite wanting to stay far away from their world.
Damien – The cursed Alpha. He initially believed the curse would be the end of him, but his sister found a way to help. Though reluctant at first, he had no other choice but to trust her plan.
In any other scenario, these two would never have crossed paths. They come from completely different worlds and share nothing in common. But fate has other plans.
At first, they refuse to acknowledge any attraction. To Haley, Damien is a monster. To Damien, she’s just a gold digger. But despite their resistance, emotions grow stronger. Haley still shows up every night to kiss him, and Damien finds himself searching for her when she’s not around.
Meet the Villains:
Ruben – Damien’s jealous brother. Desperate for power, he wants Damien dead so he can take over as Alpha. But let’s be real—he doesn’t have the Alpha aura, and no one wants him in charge. It’s almost sad how little faith anyone has in him, but his actions against his own family are inexcusable.
Victoria – Damien’s fiancée. Unsurprisingly, she isn’t thrilled about Haley being around. But let’s be clear—Damien never loved her. Their marriage was just a family arrangement. Now that Haley is in the picture, Victoria is determined to destroy her.
These two nearly succeeded. Ruben even lied about Sophie’s death, proving he was willing to kill both his siblings just for power. But this is the Vertical world—where, most of the time, the good guys win in the end.
Final Thoughts:
I really enjoyed this one! The whole “a cursed Alpha who needs a kiss every night” plot was both fun and unique. The only downside? The last subplot with Haley’s erased memories felt unnecessary. It wasn’t a bad idea, but with everything else going on, it felt like too much. Plus, the ending felt rushed—maybe with a few extra episodes, it would’ve been more satisfying.
That said, Ryan and Cosette had amazing chemistry! It was my first Vertical with them together, but I keep seeing them pop up everywhere, so of course, I had to check it out. And now… yet another series is added to my never-ending watchlist! 😆
